Now Microsoft bringing sql server for linux operating systems !!












Yes, you heard it right...

Now the Microsoft is planning to bring SQL Server which will support for linux this will provide a cross platform independency to the Microsoft SQL Server.The company aim is to allow to run databases for both windows and linux operating systems.

This will provide benefits to the linux user as well as to the Microsoft cloud Azure that also supports Red Hat linux operating systems.This will also emphasis the Microsoft towards the hybrid development

Microsoft says “We believe our customers will welcome this news and are happy to see Microsoft further increasing its investment in Linux. As we build upon our deep hybrid cloud partnership, spanning not only Linux, but also middleware, and PaaS, we’re excited to now extend that collaboration to SQL Server on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, bringing enterprise customers increased database choice.”

Microsoft currently using sql server 2016 codebase to serve more than 1.4 million SQL Server databases on its Azure cloud. SQL Server 2016 which is currently available as a public preview, will generally available for all.

Microsoft has not yet made clear exactly what other features of SQL Server 2016 will make their way to SQL Server for Linux, but more news is expected over the coming weeks and months from Microsoft.
